The UWRBC has received Section 319(h) grant funding from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) to implement the Watershed Management Plan (WMP) completed in 2007. The funding will help the commission address non-point source (NPS) pollution concerns in the watershed. Improvements to water quality will be accomplished by volutary participation of landowners to install Best Management Practices (BMPs). The program will also fund water quality monitoring within the watershed using the Hoosier Riverwatch method. The Hoosier Riverwatch method employs community volunteers, which provides the community with firsthand knowledge of the quality of the river.
